Pine apples from Costa Rica to Columbus OH. The ship came in around 2200 and I checked in at 2330. Since all the pine apples has to be unloaded and inspected by US government its needless to say I was too early and my midnight appointment were going to be rescheduled. I went back to the truck parking lot on 33rd street which was a big unorganized mess, to sleep a few hours while I waited.
At 0400 they called me and I could come back and get loaded, sitting in line now waiting for a door at Del Monte.
Woke up at 0500am this morning for my first delivery in Houston, but was told to wait in the truck and they should let me know when they wad ready. At 0900am I was given a door. Couple of hours later I was empty and on my way to my next stop on the other side of the city.
I was of course late now, but got a door as soon as I got there. A couple of hours later I was done and headed to my third and last stop. No way I could make that appointment either, but I got there about 1,5 hour late. They were nice and friendly and got me at door immediately. Did my empty call and headed for the Katy yard to pick up a tcall going to Wal-Mart.
This load unfortunately didn't have many miles, but a little later they called me and asked if I wanted to go pick up a load at Del Monte in Galveston yo Columbus OH. Much more miles, of course I wanted that.
Now I'm at the harbor in Galveston waiting to enter the gates at 1100pm. So I have a few hours to kill. I've never been this far south in Texas before and it's beautiful down here.
Was almost out of hours yesterday and no idea where to park, both Loves and a TA down here in Forth Worth on I35 were packed. All the reserved spots were taken too. I managed to find a pretty nice independent truckstop where I paid $10 for parking, but it's worth it. Actually a great place to stop if I'll be back here again. It's called the drivers truckstop. Located on exit 53A on I35SW
Now it's 6:30am and I have arrived at my first stop about 30 minutes early, waiting on the street. It's a small family owned business with no parking spots except from the ones in front of the docs. I see people are coming, but the ones in the shipping/receiving/reception is not here yet.
The load was done earlier than expected, so at 10am I had allready picked up the trailer and was on my way south on I94. Fueled up a few hours later in Troy IL and kept driving for a couple of more hours until I decided to park at Flying J on exit 226 on I44.
I will have about 590 miles to drive in the morning, my first out of four deliveries is at Keen Meat in Fort Worth TX. The next three deliveries are in Houston.
Will be watching a movie here at the truckstop tonight. :)
Waiting here at the Speedway, the closest place I could find to the shipper. My short trip load I wrote about yesterday got cancelled and I got a new and better going to Texas with three deliveries in Forth Worth. Much better and more miles, maybe I can save the week anyway.
My load appointment is tomorrow at noon so there is no rush and no need to go bed early or wake up early. Will be sitting here watching tv and read a book.
Looks like the punishment for changing jobs have started, even before I've told them about my decision. Obviously they been contacted by my new employer. This week I've got lots of unpaid hours and just 5-600 miles. Delivering a load tomorrow morning at Walmart at 0800. Then loading at 1600 from Fort Wayne IN to Burlington NJ with delivery appoinment on the 22nd. Sounds great huh? 4 days to travel 650 miles.
Well then I'm back home again after a pretty short and miserable day at work. I woke up together with my wife this morning and was getting everything ready for another 3 weeks on the road. It all started well, managed to find a pretty new empty trailer at the yard in Columbus too. Went to the Cloverfield Cold Storage and got loaded for Dunkin Donuts in NJ. Halfway through the load I got a phone call that I had to bring my loaded trailer back to the yard, another driver needed it cause he was going home. I went back to the yard and dropped my trailer and started waiting for a new load. After a couple of hours I got a new load with same shipper and same receiver, but appointment next day.
After Walmart I went down here to the TA in Fultonville NY to sleep, I was so tired and exhausted. Can't remember when I felt so bad before lol. Anyway after a few hours sleep, a shower, some food from McDonalds and some pain pills I felt better. Suddenly this truck backed in next to me, shortly after came a police officer and done some kind of DOT check on him. Checking the lights, horn, brakes, wheels and everything.
Was hoping and planning on getting home on Wednesday which seems like hard right now. After my delivery in Milwaukee on Saturday I got a Walmart load from Milwaukee with two deliveries, one in Pennsylvania and the next one in New York. Now at the Pattersonville travel plaza on I90 waiting for my delivery appointment at 0400 tomorrow morning. Crossing my fingers for a load back to Ohio so I can get home in time. This is my 4th week and that's enough for me.
Finally ready to pick up my load to Wisconsin for delivery on Saturday. Waited at the pilot for 24 hours. Hopefully they will load me fast so I can get out of here.
